How does the Scrabble dictionary checker work?+
Type any word and we instantly check it against three official word lists — TWL (North American Scrabble), Collins/CSW (international) and the Words With Friends dictionary — and show whether it's valid in each, plus its point value.
Why is a word valid in one dictionary but not another?+
Scrabble uses different official word lists in different regions. TWL is used in the US and Canada, Collins (CSW) is used elsewhere, and Words With Friends uses its own ENABLE-based list. A word like ZEN or TEXTED can be valid in one but not the others.
Is this the official Scrabble dictionary?+
We use the same word lists that tournament players use, but this is an independent tool and isn't affiliated with the official Scrabble or Words With Friends games.
